About Mel



The redhead of the duo, Mel has a professional music background that spans over 25 years. With a traditional start in church, participating in school choirs, talent shows, state competitions, and theater productions. However, her professional career began as a young teen in the gospel music production of “Smoke on the Mountain” when she committed six years to the role of Denise Sanders. This opportunity lead to other starring roles in musical stage shows/tours such as GUYS & DOLLS, INTO the WOODS, OKLAHOMA!, THE GRAPES OF WRATH, GODSPELL, , PUMP BOYS and DINETTES, JEKYLL & HYDE, WORKING, and BRIGADOON.

A multi-instrumentalist, Mel studied classical voice in college and even dabbled in jazz while majoring in vocal performance and Music Therapy. Her studies even include piano, rhythm guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. Her experience in the field of music expands from Worship Leader, Full-time “gigging” musician,  Studio Musician/Recording Artist, Voice Instructor, and Songwriter.

When she’s not playing music–or thinking about playing music–Melissa writes as a published author of new adult fiction, blogs (a self-proclaimed “opinionator”), and does the whole family thing with Matt and her three boys.
